The Pier Antiques Show is being held in conjunction with "Others," works of passionate and compulsive artisans, at Pier 92. It is "designed to break new ground, showcasing dealers whose work was on the fringes, and pairing them with others that push similar boundaries." (Old Show, New Show)
According to Irene Stella, the veteran show managment company, "it was time to take a bold step away from a traditional antiques show." Just a few years ago, the Pier Show was the Triple Pier Show, held over two weekends, and it occurs to me that "Others" might be an attempt to fill in some of the holes left when the Pier Show dwindled in size.
